The economy of China surpassed the whole of the European Union (EU), for the first time, becoming the world’s second-largest economy.
Undoubtedly, the UK withdrawal from the EU has played a role but, while EU wide GDP was regaining its pre-Covid-19 size, China’s expanded by 8.8%, mostly thanks to its strong industrial output and exports, and despite a weak real estate sector.
